How to Experience Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park:

What are the current hours of operation?

Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is open Monday-Saturday from 9am to 5pm and Sunday from 11am to 5pm.

Do I have to come at a specific time?

No.

What can I expect when I arrive?

The pathway leading to the main entrance has been widened and marked with arrows to separate people entering and leaving the facility. Plexiglass barriers have been installed at points of interaction between guess and workers. Signs at the main entrance inform guests that they should visit at another time if they are feeling unwell and that they need to wear masks indoors. Physical distancing reminders have been placed throughout the facility.

Will they take my temperature?

No.

Do we have to wear masks?

Yes, all visitors and workers over the age of five are required to wear a mask at all times inside the facility, unless they are physically unable to wear one. Guests may temporarily remove masks while eating/drinking in the Café or Snacking Area. Guests should also consider wearing masks outside in the Sculpture Park if they cannot maintain at least 6’ distance from people outside their own household.

How many people area allowed to enter?

Indoor attractions are limited to 50% of normal visitor capacity by order of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. The Gardens limits capacity to ensure proper distancing.

Is there an on-site restaurant open?

The James & Shirley Balk Café has altered its menu to offer a variety of grab-and-go items, made fresh daily. Due to current guidelines, staff must collect the name and phone number of all parties who choose to dine in. Otherwise, all food and beverages can be taken to-go and enjoyed in the Meijer-Shedleski Picnic Pavilion.

Are there sanitation areas?

No-touch hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the facility, including near entry points. Meijer Gardens has implemented a cleaning plan and enhanced infection-control measures in accordance with CDC Guidance.

The opening of the Richard and Helen DeVos Japanese Garden. Japanese gardens, known for shakkei, or borrowed view, are among the world's most revered and treasured garden styles. On June 13, 2015, the eight-acre Richard & Helen DeVos Japanese Garden at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park opened to the public, enhancing the venue's existing displays of sculpture and horticulture. Tranquility, simplicity, and beauty are the essence of a Japanese garden- something long appreciated by Fred and Lena Meijer, whose experiences with and shared love of the form led to asking about one being added to Meijer Gardens.

Summer Concert Series - Cancelled for 2020 Season

An annual concert series runs June through August and features major artists like Bonnie Raitt, Lyle Lovett and Brandi Carlile in a stunning outdoor setting.

Enjoy lunch (or a Tuesday dinner) at Taste of the Gardens Café, underneath a dazzling ceiling sculpture by renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly. The menu features sandwiches, salads, entrees and a kid's menu.

Getting Around the Venue: The main entrance is located near the accessible parking spaces. There are activated power doors at the main and side entrances. The sidewalks at the main entrance are flush with the parking lot surface.

There are several large Men’s and Women’s multi-user style Restrooms with accessible stalls available. There is a single-user style Restroom present in the main lobby. There is a Men’s and Women’s multi-user style Restroom on the lower level.

The interior halls are wide and level. There is a lowered counter in the lobby.

There is a large elevator to the lower level near the lobby.

The facility experiences very high traffic during events, and noise levels may become high during peak hours. The interior spaces are very well lit. Chair and bench seating is available throughout the facility. There is chair and table seating available in the Taste of the Gardens Café.

The outdoor paths in the Sculpture Garden are wide.

There are public multi-user restrooms available in the sculpture park proper, and in the Michigan’s Farm Farmhouse.

The Amphitheater has public restrooms.
